Personality & Behavior

Jack is a silly and engaging bird. He talks a bit — sometimes sweetly, sometimes in a quirky robotic tone that makes him unique.

He is extremely food motivated and will happily work for pistachios, which makes him highly trainable. Positive reinforcement works very well with him.

He has a sweet and tender personality but can become hormonal at times, which is common in Eclectus parrots when diet and environment are not properly managed.

Special Dietary Needs (Non-Negotiable)

Jack is currently vitamin and nutrient deficient. His adopter must commit to a stable, species-appropriate diet.

His required diet includes:

  • Fresh vegetables (primary base)
  • Measured amount of high-quality pellets
  • Limited fruits
  • Tree nuts and healthy treats for training

Researching Eclectus diet and Eclectus hormonal behavior is strongly recommended before applying.

Consistency in diet is critical for hormone regulation and overall health.

Ideal Home for Jack

Jack will do best with:

  • An experienced parrot owner
  • A female primary caretaker
  • Someone committed to proper Eclectus nutrition
  • A stable, calm environment
  • A person willing to train using food-based positive reinforcement

He is not aggressive but can become nervous. Structure, patience, and understanding are essential.

Important Things to Know About Parrots

1️⃣ Parrots Usually Choose One Person

Most birds bond closely with one individual and may only tolerate others.

2️⃣ Birds & Children

Birds are generally not suited for homes with young children, dogs, or other birds. They are flock animals and need to live in a communal area of the home to avoid behavioral issues.

3️⃣ Birds Bite

Biting typically signals fear or broken trust. Parrots require patience and respect for boundaries.

4️⃣ Parrots Are Not Dominance-Based

If a bird refuses to step down or leave a safe space, it is because they feel secure there — not because they are trying to dominate.
